Effective, Transparent Leadership for Issues that Matter
BETTY WILL FIGHT OVERDEVELOPMENT, AND INVEST IN OPEN SPACE AND PARKS
Betty worked with local Torrance grassroots organizations to defeat a 248 unit luxury apartment development on the last piece of open space in the district. Betty will also enforce the Hillside Overlay, make it stronger, and always fight for local control. Torrance has beautiful parks and Betty will work to make them even better.
BETTY WILL CHAMPION PUBLIC SAFETY
Betty will work to fully staff the Torrance Police Department and ensure the Torrance Fire Department has the resources to continue as an outstanding Class 1 Fire Department. Betty is the ONLY candidate in district 5 endorsed by the Torrance Police Officers Association, the Torrance Police Commanders Association, and the Torrance Firefighters Association.
BETTY WILL FOCUS ON FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND HOMELESSNESS.
As President of the Torrance School Board, Betty balanced a $300 million budget with no cost overruns. She has balanced budgets on the school board for seven years and will bring that fiscal discipline to the City Council. Betty supports the business community and has worked to tackle homelessness by working with regional entities.
